Vincenzo Montella Predicts Kenan Yildiz's Rise Despite Injury Setback
Vincenzo Montella, head coach of Turkey, opened up about the difficulties of missing key players Hakan Calhanoglu and Kenan Yildiz due to injury ahead of their Nations League fixtures. He admitted it is a big tactical challenge to face top European teams without these crucial playmakers, alongside defender Mert Muldur who is also sidelined.
Montella shared that losing such experienced figures means younger squad members must step into high-pressure roles faster than planned. "Kenan Yildiz will become one of the world's top players," Montella stated. "Even when Ale started, comparisons with Baggio were common. He has the talent and potential of a great player. Maybe today Kenan isn’t a classic number 10, but at his age, you evolve. He can play as a number 10 by cutting inside from the wing."

Montella reflected on the emotional weight of facing Italy twice in the Nations League, led by his former teammate Roberto Mancini. He expressed respect and affection for Mancini, calling him the right person to guide Italy’s resurgence after recent setbacks.
"I would have liked to face all teams, but not Italy, especially twice in a few days. I’ll be very emotional," Montella admitted. "I played with Mancini at Sampdoria; there’s esteem, respect, and affection. I believe in him; he has the experience and knowledge to bring Italy back to the top."
