Now the league’s next fantasy headline has a name: Mohamed Salah.
The former Liverpool winger has left Anfield this summer with a year still remaining on his contract, stepping away after a glittering spell in the Premier League. Fresh from representing Egypt at the 2026 World Cup, the 32-year-old is weighing up what comes next. The clock on his prime is ticking, but his profile remains enormous.
Turkey has been heavily mentioned as a possible destination. Yet a new thread has gripped the conversation: Salah, in talks with an unnamed MLS club.
No club has gone on record. No deal is close, at least not publicly. That hasn’t stopped the league’s fanbase from erupting.
On social media, the reaction has swung from disbelief to pure excitement. One supporter captured the sense of shock in four words: “That would be insane.” Another leaned straight into the marketing dream, writing: “That would be amazing, hopefully to a smaller market team to grow the sport.”

Strip away the club guesses and the message from supporters is clear: if Salah chooses MLS, it would be seismic. “That would be mega massive for MLS. Let’s go,” one comment read. Another put it simply: “It would be huge for MLS if Mohamed Salah would come to an MLS team.”
For now, though, the noise is louder than the facts. Salah has not publicly committed to any destination. His future remains a blank page, and even those closest to him are keeping it that way in public.
His agent last broke silence on July 17, offering a rare glimpse into the uncertainty without giving anything away: “I personally do not know where Mohamed will play next season. What does that tell you?” he posted.
