Key Contributions on the Field

Merino was influential throughout the match, helping control the pace and producing important moments. He described his assist as a high-pressure effort to find the ball and set up Noni Madueke’s goal. His own goal came from a smart move and accurate finish that the goalkeeper couldn’t reach.

"I think the assist was high pressure on the team, where I’m really alive to find that second ball and find Noni, and then he finishes with a really nice finish," Merino explained. "The goal is a really good action from the team in the last third - when I get the ball, I can open the first touch and then just put it where the keeper couldn’t get it."

He added that being on the scoresheet always feels good and that he will keep aiming to score more goals.
