Mason Mount Offered to AC Milan as Amad Diallo Stays Untouchable
Manchester United’s midfield reshuffle has taken a sharp turn: Mason Mount is being offered out, Amad Diallo is being locked in.
According to reports in Italy, United have proposed Mount to AC Milan in a deal worth around €25 million (£21.5m), as the club look to raise funds for their ongoing rebuild in the middle of the park. Milan Press claim Ruben Amorim has already given the “green light” to explore a move for the England international.
For United, it is a clear signal of where the priorities lie this summer.
Mount offered as United chase funds
United have already agreed a deal to bring Ederson Silva in from Atalanta and remain in the hunt for at least one more midfielder, with Matheus Fernandes still on their radar despite competition from Tottenham Hotspur.
To push those deals over the line, they need sales. One planned exit has already collapsed. The club had hoped to move on Manuel Ugarte after the World Cup, only for a serious knee injury to derail any prospect of a transfer and with it a sizeable injection of cash.
That setback has pushed Mount closer to the door.
Since arriving from Chelsea, the 25-year-old has endured a stop-start spell at Old Trafford, his progress repeatedly checked by injury. Under Michael Carrick he now finds himself down the pecking order, no longer the automatic starter United envisaged when they brought him in.
So United have tested the market. Milan Press report that Mount’s name has been formally put to AC Milan, with an approximate valuation of €25m, and that Amorim – who has already worked with the midfielder at Old Trafford – is open to the idea of reuniting with him in Serie A. An “exchange of information” is said to be under way between the clubs as Milan weigh up the opportunity as part of what is expected to be an ambitious window under their new coach.
For Mount, it would represent a reset. For United, it would be a clean sale that helps bankroll the next phase of their midfield overhaul.
Diallo going nowhere under Carrick
While Mount’s future hangs in the balance, United have drawn a firm line in the sand over Amad Diallo.
The winger, one of the standout performers during Amorim’s spell at Old Trafford, has naturally been linked with a reunion at San Siro. Italian reports have floated the idea of Diallo following Mount to Milan, folding his name into the swirl of speculation around United’s summer business.
That talk has been shut down in emphatic fashion.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Carrick has been “insistent” within the club that Diallo must stay, and that United’s stance is crystal clear: the Ivorian is not for sale this summer. The club, Romano explained, fully expect Diallo to remain a key part of their plans for the new season.
United’s message is simple. Mount can be negotiated. Diallo cannot.
So while Milan explore the possibility of prising Mount away for a fee that reflects his recent struggles and injury record, any attempt to include Diallo in the conversation will hit a brick wall. United see him as part of the core they want to build around, not a makeweight in someone else’s rebuild.
The result is a stark contrast: one attacking midfielder being pushed towards a new chapter in Italy, another being ring-fenced as non-negotiable. As the window gathers pace and Milan decide whether to turn initial talks into a concrete bid, the next move belongs to the Rossoneri – and to Mount, if he’s ready to swap Old Trafford for San Siro in search of a fresh start.
