Mason Greenwood's Future at Olympique de Marseille in Doubt

Mason Greenwood has turned his back on Saudi Arabia – but his future at Olympique de Marseille still looks finished.

The 24-year-old forward, who has spent two seasons at OM after leaving Manchester United, is expected to move on this summer. In Provence, the signs are already visible: according to La Provence, Greenwood has handed back the keys to his house in Aix, a small but telling detail that underlines the direction of travel.

Saudi clubs tried to change his mind. As reported by Sacha Tavolieri, Al Ahli, Al Qadsiah and Al Diriyah all came forward with sizeable offers, testing both his market value and his resolve. Greenwood said no. The money on the table from the Gulf was serious; his interest lay elsewhere.

For now, the clearest path leads to Turkey. L’Équipe report that Greenwood has reached an agreement on personal terms with Fenerbahce. Salary, contract length, the framework of his role – all broadly settled between player and club. The real battle sits a step higher, between Fenerbahce and Marseille.

OM are holding firm. They value Greenwood at around €50m and are waiting for that stance to be matched in negotiations. Until then, any agreement with the player remains a promise rather than a plane ticket.

Italy hovers in the background. AS Roma have registered their interest and, crucially, Greenwood is keen on the idea of a move to the capital. Roma, like Fenerbahce, must still find common ground with Marseille. Admiration is not enough; only a fee that satisfies OM will open the door.

So the situation narrows to a simple equation. Greenwood has ruled out the Saudi route, aligned himself with more traditional European options and quietly closed his chapter in the south of France. Now it is up to Fenerbahce, Roma – or any latecomer – to decide how much they are really prepared to pay.
