Manchester United Target Conceicao in Juventus Swap Deal
Manchester United have moved to the front of the queue for Juventus winger Conceicao, with a player-plus-cash proposal that could reshape the attacks of two European giants in one stroke.
The Portuguese wide man, signed permanently by Juventus for €30 million after an initial loan from Porto in the summer of 2024, has gone from gamble to cornerstone in just two seasons. First under Igor Tudor, then under Luciano Spalletti, he grew into a fundamental part of the Bianconeri project, his direct running and edge in the final third turning heads well beyond Serie A.
England noticed. United, in particular, have not just noticed – they have acted.
Carrick’s missing piece out wide
Michael Carrick wants more firepower and variety in the final third. United’s hierarchy see Conceicao as the kind of dynamic, touchline-hugging winger who can stretch games, break lines and give their attack a different rhythm.
Liverpool are monitoring the situation from a distance, but United are driving the talks. Sportmediaset report that Juventus now value Conceicao between €50m and €60m, a sharp rise on their original outlay and a reflection of his rise in Turin.
United’s answer is not to pay that figure outright. Instead, they are ready to put a major asset on the table.
Zirkzee the key to unlocking the deal
The Premier League side are reportedly prepared to offer €30m plus Joshua Zirkzee to land Conceicao. For United, the Dutch striker is no longer central to their long-term plans. For Juventus, he might be exactly what Spalletti is looking for.
Spalletti appreciates Zirkzee’s profile: technically gifted, mobile, comfortable linking play and already proven in Serie A. For a Juventus side actively hunting a new forward this summer, the possibility of securing a striker tailor-made for their coach, while cashing in on a winger they bought for half the current valuation, is an enticing equation.
The structure is simple on paper: Conceicao to Old Trafford, Zirkzee and €30m to Turin. On the balance sheet and on the pitch, it ticks a lot of boxes for both clubs.
Mendes in the middle
Where there is a deal of this scale, there is often Jorge Mendes. The super-agent is heavily involved, mediating between United and Juventus and trying to stitch together a package that works financially and tactically for everyone.
Mendes is expected at Continassa in the coming days to formally present the proposal to the Juventus hierarchy. Inside the club, the idea of a swap plus cash is being viewed as close to a perfect compromise: Juventus bank a profit on Conceicao, secure a forward Spalletti wants, and retain some financial flexibility for the rest of the window. United get their priority winger without committing to a straight €60m outlay.
If Juventus say yes, the dominoes will start to fall quickly.
David pushed towards the exit
The first casualty of Zirkzee’s potential arrival would almost certainly be Jonathan David. Juventus will need to clear space in their attacking department, and David has emerged as the primary candidate to make way.
The Canadian wants to stay. The board, though, are ready to sanction a sale at around €30m. With Lois Openda heading to Lyon and the expected arrival of Randal Kolo Muani, Juventus no longer see David as untouchable. His profile, once central to their plans, is now viewed as more expendable in the reshaped forward line Spalletti is building.
Interest is already lining up. Crystal Palace and Aston Villa have made early inquiries, sensing value in a proven goalscorer at a relatively modest fee by Premier League standards. In France, Rennes and Paris FC are also showing firm interest, aware that a player of David’s finishing instincts rarely comes to market at that price.
Two clubs, one window-defining gamble
For United, this is about arming Carrick with a winger who can change games and signal a more aggressive attacking identity. For Juventus, it is about recalibrating the front line around a striker in Zirkzee whom their coach trusts, while turning Conceicao’s rise into both sporting and financial capital.
If the numbers align and the signatures follow, Conceicao could be lighting up Old Trafford while Zirkzee leads the line in Turin – and Jonathan David starts the next chapter of his career elsewhere.
