According to TEAMtalk, United are “plotting a move” after learning Roma value Kone at around £50 million. For a club in transition and under new football leadership, he has moved from long-term interest to live option.
Roma’s need, United’s opportunity
Roma’s position is driven by more than pure sporting logic. I Giallorossi, despite a strong Serie A campaign that delivered a comfortable third-place finish and Champions League qualification, are under pressure to balance the books.
“Despite securing Champions League football, the Italian side are understood to require player sales to meet UEFA's financial regulations, with Kone viewed internally as their most valuable saleable asset,” the report notes.
The numbers are already doing the rounds. Sources suggest Kone could be available for a fee in the region of £50 million, with intermediaries sounding out a cluster of Premier League heavyweights. Manchester United are not alone in the conversation: Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool have all been approached as potential destinations.

Didier Deschamps trusted Kone to step into the role usually occupied by Madrid’s midfield lynchpin.
