Jacobs wrote on X that Middlesbrough are “close to signing Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek,” adding that the Czech youngster, who spent last season on loan at Bristol City, is now chasing regular first-team football. talkSPORT echoed that stance, describing Boro as “closing in” on a deal.
The fee remains under wraps for now, but previous reporting from the Daily Mail suggested United would look for around £10m to part with Vitek this summer. For a player yet to make a senior competitive appearance for the club, that figure underlines both his reputation and United’s determination to extract full value from their academy assets.
Vitek’s sale would also fit a broader pattern. The club have been open to trimming the fringes of the squad, with The Athletic listing Joshua Zirkzee, Vitek, Altay Bayindir, Harry Amass, Toby Collyer and Ethan Wheatley among those who could be moved on before the window shuts.

Bayindir to Celta Vigo: Romano’s ‘here we go’

Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Wednesday morning that Celta Vigo have struck an agreement with United to sign the Turkish international on loan. His signature X catchphrase – “here we go” – accompanied the news.
Romano reports that the deal is a loan with a €4m buy option, a fee that can shift depending on Bayindir’s appearances. The goalkeeper has been given the green light to travel for his medical and to finalise the contract with the La Liga club.
