Manchester United Finalizes Altay Bayindir Loan to Celta Vigo

Manchester United’s goalkeeping department is being stripped back with purpose, and the first major move is now locked in.

Altay Bayindir is heading to Celta Vigo. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the deal, with United sanctioning a loan move that includes a €4m option to buy, the final fee set to depend on how often the Turkish keeper features in Spain. Bayindir has been cleared to travel for his medical and to sign the paperwork, bringing a short and largely anonymous Old Trafford stint to a close.

It is a decisive call from United, but not a surprising one.

The club moved swiftly in the summer to bring in Karl Darlow on a free, earmarking the experienced Wales international as the main deputy to Senne Lammens. Tom Heaton, content in his role and valued inside the dressing room, remains the No 3. Once that hierarchy settled, Bayindir’s path narrowed to a dead end.

The solution was obvious: he had to go and play. Celta Vigo will now offer that platform, and United have protected their position with the buy option if the move clicks for all parties.

Bayindir is not the only goalkeeper on the move.

Radek Vitek, another name on a growing list of potential exits, has also been given the green light to leave. Overnight developments point to United closing in on a permanent agreement with Middlesbrough for the 22-year-old, a deal that would hand him a clearer route to first-team football and trim more depth from Erik ten Hag’s squad.

This is part of a broader, sharper edge to United’s summer.

The club want a third new midfielder before the window shuts and a new left-back as well, though Lewis Hall will not be that signing. After cashing in on Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon and finally Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal, Newcastle have drawn a hard line: Hall is staying put.

Amid those incoming plans, United have also been braced for outgoings. The Athletic recently highlighted six players who could depart: Bayindir, Vitek, Harry Amass, Toby Collyer, Ethan Wheatley and Joshua Zirkzee. With Bayindir’s loan to Celta Vigo agreed and Vitek’s move to Middlesbrough advancing, that list is already starting to shrink.

The final month of the window at Old Trafford is rarely quiet. This one is shaping up to be ruthless.
