Liverpool Targets Ajax Star Mika Godts as PSG Steps In
Liverpool have already dipped into the market for a left-sided winger this summer, but Andoni Iraola is not done yet. Victor Munoz has arrived from Osasuna in a £35 million deal after the Reds outmanoeuvred Newcastle United, yet the recruitment drive out wide is set to continue.
The plan had been more ambitious. Liverpool were believed to be preparing an £86 million offer for RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande, only to watch the in-demand attacker drift towards Real Madrid. That pursuit now looks all but over. The search shifts, but the profile does not: young, explosive, left-sided and with room to grow into a superstar.
This is where Mika Godts enters the picture.
Ajax creator draws a crowd
The 21-year-old Belgian delivered a blistering campaign for Ajax last season, putting up numbers that demand attention: 17 goals and 15 assists in 44 appearances. Those are not just promising figures; they are the kind that make recruitment departments across Europe sit up and replay the clips.
He has not eased into the new season either. Godts has already recorded assists in both of Ajax’s 4-1 wins over Vojvodina in UEFA Conference League qualifying, carrying his form straight into 2026/27. Every touch, every final ball, is being monitored.
Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been credited with interest. The Premier League queue is forming, and Liverpool are firmly in it. TEAMtalk lists the Merseyside club among the suitors, and if they truly want him at Anfield, they may not have long to hesitate.

PSG make their move
Paris Saint-Germain, having missed out on Diomande themselves, have now turned their attention fully to Godts. The French champions are understood to have held positive discussions over a transfer, with football advisor Luis Campos a strong admirer and convinced the winger fits Luis Enrique’s long-term vision at the Parc des Princes.
PSG have already submitted an initial bid, signalling that their interest is not theoretical. They want him now.
Godts is said to be open to a move to Ligue 1, but he knows the reality in Paris: competition for a starting place will be fierce. Even so, the project and the stage are tempting. For a player yet to feature in one of Europe’s traditional top five leagues, this is a leap that could define his career.
Ajax value him at around £51 million. It is a hefty price for someone still untested at the very highest domestic level, yet in the current market he represents a cut-price alternative to the figures being discussed for Diomande.
Ajax ready to sell – on their terms
Ajax are not pretending this is a normal situation. Technical director Jordi Cruyff went public over the weekend, stating that “Godts will leave” but stressing it will only happen “at the right time and for the right price.” The message is clear: Ajax expect a sale, but they will not be rushed or bullied.
That stance puts the onus back on the suitors. Liverpool have already shown this summer that they can move quickly to hijack a rival’s plans, as Newcastle discovered with the Munoz deal. Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham are all watching the same highlight reels, all reading the same scouting reports.
Now PSG have put money on the table.
If Liverpool believe Godts is the next piece in Iraola’s evolving front line, they cannot afford to linger. The winger market is moving fast, and Ajax have made it known that the door is open — but only for those willing to pay the full price.
