Kim Min-jae: Manchester United Eye Bayern Munich Defender Amid Juventus Interest
Kim Min-jae has emerged as a live option for Manchester United, but the Premier League side are playing catch-up in a race Juventus currently control.
According to Bild football chief Christian Falk, United have placed the Bayern Munich centre-back on their radar as they look at options to reshape their defence. The interest is real, but at this stage it is Juventus who are out in front.
In Italy, La Gazzetta dello Sport has already reported that the 29-year-old has given his approval to a move to Turin. The appeal is obvious: a potential reunion with Luciano Spalletti, the coach under whom Kim produced some of the best football of his career at Napoli, and a return to a league that suited his game and reputation.
Juventus, then, have the advantage of familiarity and timing. They are pushing now. United, by contrast, are waiting to see whether the door actually opens.
Because for all the noise around him, Kim is not agitating for a move. The reports are clear on that point: he is currently content with his status as a squad player at Bayern Munich, the German champions still viewing him as part of a deep defensive unit. Any transfer would require not just an attractive project, but a compelling reason for Bayern to break that depth.
That is where United come in. Should Juventus fail to close the deal, the Premier League club are ready to step in and explore negotiations. The plan is simple: if the Italian route collapses, Old Trafford becomes a serious alternative.
For now, though, the situation hangs in the balance. Juventus lead, United lurk, and Bayern hold a player who is in no rush to force their hand. The next move belongs to Turin.
