The clock is ticking in Turin, and Juventus know it. Less than a month before the new Serie A season kicks off, Luciano Spalletti is still waiting for the centre-forward he has built his plans around. The club’s hierarchy insist the wait is almost over.

All eyes are on Randal Kolo Muani.

The Frenchman, who impressed during a short loan spell in Turin in the second half of the 2024-25 campaign, has moved from being one of several names on a list to the clear priority. Eight goals in 16 Serie A appearances gave Juventus a glimpse of what he can offer: mobility, depth in behind, and a penalty-box presence that fits neatly into Spalletti’s attacking patterns.

Since Dusan Vlahovic walked away at the end of his contract on June 30, Juventus have been operating with a glaring vacancy at the heart of their front line. Contacts with the Serbian’s camp have not been completely severed, with an extension still not ruled out, but the club have widened their search and pushed hard in Paris.

Paris Saint-Germain have held firm on their valuation. Juventus, for their part, have kept coming back.

The latest proposal on the table is clear: a season-long loan from PSG, with an obligation to buy set at €40 million plus add-ons. The structure of the bonuses is designed to do the rest, taking the total package close to the €50m figure PSG have been seeking.

This is no longer a speculative approach. It is a bid tailored to match Paris’ demands as closely as Juventus’ budget will allow.

Against that backdrop, CEO Giovanni Carnevali struck an optimistic note when he faced reporters on Wednesday. Asked what was still missing before an agreement could be sealed with PSG for Kolo Muani, he offered a short, pointed reply.

“I hope not a lot,” he said.

A line of five words, but one that reveals plenty. Juventus believe the gap is narrowing. Weeks of negotiations have brought the clubs to the brink of common ground, and the feeling in Turin is that the decisive step may not be far away.

For Spalletti, the timing matters as much as the name. A new centre-forward arriving on the eve of the season has little room for adaptation; landing Kolo Muani now would give the coach at least some runway to integrate a player who already knows the club, the league, and several of his prospective teammates.

The deal is not done yet. PSG still hold the cards, and the final details on the obligation and bonuses will decide whether this long pursuit finally ends in agreement. But with Carnevali’s words hanging in the air, Juventus have made their stance unmistakable: Kolo Muani is the man they want leading the line when the 2026-27 campaign begins.
