Josh Yaro Joins Athletic Club Boise on Loan

St. Louis CITY SC have sent veteran defender Josh Yaro on loan to USL League One side Athletic Club Boise for the remainder of the 2026 season, giving one of the club’s original pillars a chance to play regular minutes in a new setting.

Yaro, 31, has been woven into the fabric of the organization since 2022. He helped anchor CITY2’s back line during their run to the inaugural MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference title, a campaign that set the tone for the club’s ambitious rise. His performances there earned him a place with the first team in 2023, where he became a dependable depth piece and a trusted voice in the locker room.

The move is as much about respect as it is about roster management. St. Louis recognize what Yaro has given them; now they’re opening the door for him to stay sharp and influential on the field.

“Josh has been with the club from the beginning and has always been a great teammate, stepping up whenever needed both on and off the pitch,” said Sporting Director Corey Wray. “He has embraced the city and consistently made an impact through numerous community initiatives, which speaks to the person he is. We are excited that he now has an opportunity to get consistent minutes in a competitive team and wish him and AC Boise the best for the remainder of the season.”

For Boise, it’s a significant addition: a seasoned defender with MLS NEXT Pro silverware, first-team experience, and a reputation as a leader. For Yaro, it’s a fresh challenge and a clear runway to play his way into the heart of a new back line.

St. Louis, meanwhile, will watch closely. A strong loan spell could yet shape the next chapter of a player who has already helped lay the club’s foundations.
