Jeremy Doku Commits to Manchester City with Five-Year Extension

Manchester City has officially confirmed that Belgian winger Jeremy Doku has signed a new five-year contract, securing his future at the Etihad Stadium through to 2031. This move comes as the club prepares to enter a fresh chapter under the management of Enzo Maresca.

Doku's Role and Growth at the Club

At just 24 years old, Doku has quickly become a key figure in City's attack since joining from Stade Rennais in 2023. Known for his blistering pace and technical skill, he has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most dangerous wide players. His commitment follows other high-profile signings like Phil Foden, Josko Gvardiol, and Abdukodir Khusanov who have all pledged their futures to City this summer.

"This club means so much to me – I have developed as both a player and a person. I feel settled here, and I know I am improving every day because of the work the staff here do," Doku said. "I have loved my time at City so far, so to have the opportunity to stay for longer is a fantastic feeling."

Building Around Doku for the Maresca Era

The contract extension is a significant boost as Enzo Maresca looks to shape his attacking strategy around Doku's exceptional skills. The Belgian winger showed clear excitement about the Italian coach's style and vision.

"With Enzo here now, I am really excited about the new season. His style of football is the kind we love, so that’s exciting for the players. The City fans are also a huge reason I have signed this new contract. I feel their love and support, and it means the world to me. I want to focus on bringing them the success they deserve," Doku shared.

Praise from Club Leadership

Manchester City Director of Football Hugo Viana expressed high praise for Doku’s progress and character.

"Jeremy is a huge talent whose improvement since joining us in 2023 is clear for all to see. He has a special dynamic and the right characteristics for what we want in a winger. He brings a special quality to our team. Jeremy is also a fantastic person, loved across the club. His attitude is first class, and he wants to improve every single day. He deserves this new deal, and I know he will continue to get better in the coming months and years."

Doku's Impact Since Arrival

Doku’s debut season was historic. He made over 40 appearances, scored six goals, and provided 11 assists, helping City win their fourth straight league title. One highlight was a match against Bournemouth where he became the youngest player in Premier League history to register four assists and five goal involvements in a single game.

During the 2024-25 season, despite some team challenges, Doku remained a dependable presence, finishing with eight goals and nine assists while showing increased defensive maturity. By the 2025-26 campaign, he had become indispensable, playing a crucial role in City's domestic cup double. His contributions included an equalizing goal and an assist in the FA Cup semi-final versus Southampton.
