ITV Secures Broadcasting Rights for 2027 Rugby World Cup

ITV will air all matches of the 2027 Rugby World Cup, marking their tenth consecutive tournament coverage. The event is set to take place in Australia next year, featuring 24 teams competing across 52 live matches, including a last-16 knockout stage.

World Rugby chief executive Alan Gilpin described this deal as more than just a partnership. He said it shows a strong commitment to ensuring rugby fans throughout the UK can witness and be inspired by the sport's excitement, drama, and standout personalities.

ITV's Longstanding Role in Rugby Coverage

ITV has held broadcasting rights for every men's Rugby World Cup since 1991. Alongside the World Cup, they have secured rights to the 2026 and 2028 editions of the Nations Championship and will continue sharing Six Nations coverage with BBC Sport until 2029.

Viewers in the UK can expect every England men’s game to be broadcast free-to-air on ITV through summer 2029. Matches involving Scotland, Wales, and Ireland will also be accessible without subscription during this period.

Upcoming Tournament Kickoff

The Rugby World Cup will commence on October 1, when hosts Australia face Hong Kong in the opening match.
