Flavio Cobolli Shares Insights on Training with Jannik Sinner Ahead of Comeback

The Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner is gearing up for a much-anticipated return to the court. Reports indicate he plans to compete at the upcoming China Open in Beijing, where he is the reigning champion. This marks his first tournament since suffering a knee injury after defeating Alexander Zverev in the 2026 Wimbledon final.

Despite his time away, Sinner still holds the top spot in the ATP rankings. However, his lead is under pressure from Zverev, who recently clinched the US Open title. With less than 2000 points separating them, Zverev has a real shot at overtaking Sinner by the season's end if results fall in his favor.

Practice Sessions with Flavio Cobolli

Sinner has been training in Monte Carlo during his recovery phase. There, he recently practiced alongside fellow Italian and Roland Garros runner-up Flavio Cobolli. Cobolli, who is 24 and enjoying the best season of his career, shared his experience in an interview with Super Tennis TV ahead of the Laver Cup.

"We joked around a lot," said Cobolli. "It was really nice to find him again on the court. Every time I have the occasion, I try to get the most out of the hours we play together. He's one of the people who teaches me the most; I am always up for it when it comes to training with him."

Cobolli is currently in London representing Team Europe at the Laver Cup, marking his third consecutive appearance since debuting in 2024 when Europe stopped Team World from securing a three-peat.

Laver Cup Details

The event's opening day won't feature Cobolli in action. The highlight will be a doubles match pitting Carlos Alcaraz and Jakub Mensik against Alexander Bublik and Taylor Fritz.

Team Europe is captained by Yannick Noah, with Tim Henman as vice captain. Their opponents, Team World, have Andre Agassi and Pat Rafter in those roles respectively.
