Endrick's Premier League Loan: Real Madrid's Strategic Move
Real Madrid’s long game with Endrick is about to stretch a little further.
Ramon Alvarez reports that the Brazilian’s representatives, Roc Nation, are now working to secure a Premier League loan for the 20-year-old forward, with the club’s blessing, for the 2026/27 season. After another summer of heavyweight arrivals in attack, Madrid and the player’s camp have reached the same conclusion: the Bernabéu is not where he will grow next year.
A talent on the move again
Endrick has only just walked back through the doors at Valdebebas.
His last campaign effectively split in two. Marginalised at Real Madrid, he left in January and rebuilt his confidence at Olympique Lyon, where the picture changed quickly. Eight goals in 21 appearances across all competitions, a lively presence in Ligue 1, and suddenly he was on the plane with Brazil for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
That loan worked. It gave him minutes, responsibility, and a platform big enough to catch the eye of the Seleção.
Yet even that surge was not enough to fully shift the dynamics at the very top. At the World Cup, Carlo Ancelotti did not lean on him as a central figure, and the forward never quite imposed himself on the tournament. The step up, at least for now, still looks steep.
Back in Madrid, Endrick tried to change the narrative early. He returned to pre-season ahead of schedule, knuckled down under José Mourinho and even found the net in a friendly against Fiorentina. There was interest from AS Roma, and for a moment it seemed Mourinho might keep him as a live option in his squad.
Now that idea is fading. The plan, once again, points away from Spain.
A crowded frontline
The context is ruthless.
Madrid have doubled down on established and emerging stars. Bernardo Silva has arrived. Carlos Espi and Yan Diomande are in the door. Vinicius Jr. has renewed. Brahim Diaz continues to fight for relevance. Rodrygo, once fit again, will not quietly surrender his place in the hierarchy.
Endrick, for all his promise and the fee Madrid committed to bring him from Brazil, still stands on the outside of that group looking in.
Under Ancelotti in his first season, he was more cameo than cornerstone, trusted only in flashes but often impressive when he did appear. Under Xabi Alonso last season, his situation barely improved, the January loan to Lyon becoming almost inevitable once it was clear his minutes would not increase.
Now, with the attacking competition even fiercer, the path to a regular role has narrowed further. Keeping him around to watch from the bench would serve no one.
Why England, why now?
So the Premier League beckons.
Roc Nation have started the work of finding the right English club, one that can offer a starting role, a clear tactical fit, and the sort of intensity Madrid believe will harden Endrick for the future. The idea is not exile. It is preparation.
England offers a different kind of examination. The pace, the physicality, the unforgiving schedule — they can either expose a young forward or sharpen him into something far more dangerous. For a 20-year-old who has already handled the pressure of a big-money move and a World Cup call-up, this is the next test.
For Real Madrid, the calculation is cold but clear. Endrick is still an asset with enormous upside. He is also, at this moment, blocked by players further along the development curve and trusted more in the biggest games. A Premier League loan keeps his value rising, his experience deepening, and his name in the conversation without forcing Mourinho to make space he does not have.
The club spent big to secure his future. Now they are betting that, to unlock it, he must leave again — this time into the most unforgiving league in Europe.
