According to media figure Ahmed Shobier, Konyaspor have cranked their offer for the Al-Ahly midfielder up to 4 million and 250 thousand dollars after earlier, lower bids during the summer window. It is, the Turkish side say, their final proposal. One last shove to get the deal done.
From Konyaspor’s side, the message sounds emphatic. Shobier relayed comments from a board member who insisted the improved bid has already been sent and is sitting in Al-Ahly’s official inbox, waiting to be opened. The club, he said, are desperate to complete Ashour’s signing and view this latest figure as their last throw of the dice.
Al-Ahly, though, are not playing along with that script.
Al-Ahly deny any offer – and suspect a game
Speaking on his radio programme, Shobier revealed that Al-Ahly insist no official offer from Konyaspor has reached them. Not this week. Not this window.
Inside the Red Castle, the feeling is that someone is trying to stir the pot. The board believe there is an attempt to manufacture a crisis around Ashour, to unsettle both the player and the dressing room at a delicate stage of their preparations.
