Djed Spence Eyes Liverpool Move Amid Tottenham Standoff
Djed Spence has made his move. At least in his mind.
The England international is understood to be keen on a switch to Liverpool, with Tottenham Hotspur naming their price and the Merseyside club scouring the market for defensive reinforcements in a window that has already exposed the thinness of Andoni Iraola’s back line.
Liverpool’s defensive gap widens
Liverpool have been busy, but not nearly busy enough in the areas that now matter most. Victor Munoz and Jeremy Jacquet are through the door, yet Iraola’s squad looks alarmingly short at the back.
Jacquet, Virgil van Dijk, Giovanni Leoni and Joe Gomez are all unavailable for various reasons. Full-back is a particular problem. The numbers are light, the options stretched, and the manager’s concerns over his right-backs have been made clear.

According to Anfield Sector, Spence is “extremely receptive” to the prospect of joining Liverpool this summer. The line from inside the club is cautious – he is not the only name on the list, and there is no guarantee talks will accelerate – but the interest is real, even if publicly downplayed.

Tottenham’s stance has been outlined by Spurs reporter @szyexcl, who claims the club would seek at least £35 million for Spence in this window. Liverpool’s admiration is noted, the player’s openness to the move is clear, but Spurs intend to make any deal count.
That figure may not be the ceiling. Former Premier League scout Bryan King argued last month that anything below £50m would represent poor business from Tottenham’s perspective.
“I think he’s done well every time he’s played for England,” King said, insisting Spurs would be “foolish” to consider a sale around £25m. In his view, a young, current England international should not be leaving for less than £50m, and Tottenham would be “stupid” to sanction a cut-price exit.
So the stage is set. Liverpool, with defensive issues mounting and a manager who wants a reliable right-back. Tottenham, holding a valuable asset and a firm valuation.
