Coventry Pursues Ex-Man Utd Star Angel Gomes; Crystal Palace Offers £42.9m for Monaco Midfielder

Coventry City have reportedly made a move to sign Angel Gomes, the former Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder. At 25, Gomes has returned to his parent club Marseille after a frustrating spell at Wolves where he played 13 matches without scoring or assisting.

He started seven Premier League games for Wolves but couldn’t stop their relegation. The club chose not to activate a £6m purchase option. Despite this, Coventry appear keen to bring him back to English football. According to L'Equipe via SportWitness, they’ve sent an inquiry to Marseille about signing Gomes, who still has two years left on his contract. Marseille are open to offers if they find a suitable deal.

Gomes joined Marseille last summer on a free transfer after leaving Lille, scoring four goals in 20 appearances so far.

Newcastle's Joe Willock Transfer Talks Stall

Meanwhile, Newcastle United face difficulties in offloading midfielder Joe Willock. The Arsenal academy product is entering the final year of his contract, and Newcastle risk losing him for free next year. After losing Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali this summer, the Magpies might need to sell Willock too.

According to Turkish outlet Sabah via SportWitness, Newcastle want around £19.7m for Willock, but interested club Besiktas are only willing to pay up to £11.2m, with a maximum offer of £12.9m reported. This price gap means the deal remains uncertain as Newcastle’s valuation seems to block the exit. Willock has contributed 19 goals and 11 assists in 182 appearances for Newcastle. The club is also exploring a move for Marseille's Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to strengthen their midfield.

West Ham Striker Niclas Fullkrug Stalls Move

Niclas Fullkrug, the 33-year-old German striker at West Ham United, appears stuck after a poor loan at AC Milan, where he scored once in 20 matches. With West Ham relegated from the Premier League, Fullkrug is unlikely to feature prominently and missed Saturday’s EFL Cup win over Portsmouth.

He had reportedly agreed terms with Italian side Venezia, but according to German source SportBild, West Ham’s asking price is now blocking the transfer. The move to Venezia has collapsed, and Fullkrug is training alone while seeking a new club. Since joining West Ham from Borussia Dortmund for £27m in 2024, he has scored just three goals in 29 appearances.

Crystal Palace Make Offer for Monaco’s Lamine Camara

Crystal Palace seem to have taken a lead in signing Lamine Camara, the 22-year-old midfielder from Monaco. He has drawn interest from big clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool, but neither has confirmed serious moves. Man Utd already strengthened with Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, while Liverpool focuses on Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola.

According to FootMercato, Crystal Palace submitted a concrete bid for Camara, who is also on Nottingham Forest's radar. Monaco values the Senegal international at around £42.9m (€50m), indicating a tough negotiation ahead. Camara’s contract runs until 2029, but Monaco needs more sales after transferring Maghnes Akliouche to PSG.
