Carlos Queiroz Returns as Ghana Coach Weeks After Resigning

Carlos Queiroz has been unexpectedly reappointed as the head coach of Ghana less than two months after resigning following their exit from the World Cup. The former Real Madrid manager had stepped down in July but will now lead the Black Stars again during the upcoming international break.

A Seasoned International Coach

Queiroz has managed nine different national teams throughout his career. Before Ghana, he led Iran through three consecutive World Cups and took Portugal to the last 16 in 2010. Other countries he has coached include South Africa, UAE, Colombia, Egypt, Qatar, and Oman.

During his brief first stint with Ghana, he oversaw a 1-0 group stage victory over Panama thanks to a late goal from Caleb Yirenkyi, followed by a goalless draw against England and a 2-1 loss to Croatia.

At club level, he was a trusted assistant to Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, contributing to three Premier League titles and the 2008 Champions League win. He also spent a season managing Real Madrid in 2003-04.
