Brenden Aaronson Signs Three-Year Contract Extension with Leeds United
Brenden Aaronson has nailed his colours to the Leeds United mast, signing a three-year contract extension as he entered the final 12 months of his previous deal.
The 25-year-old becomes the third key figure to commit to Elland Road this week, following new agreements for Joe Rodon and Jayden Bogle, as Daniel Farke quietly locks down the core of his side.
This is not a sentimental move. It follows an assured, durable campaign from Aaronson that helped Leeds steer clear of trouble and re-establish a measure of Premier League stability last season.
No doubt in my mind
The United States international made no attempt to hide how straightforward the decision was once talks began.
Reflecting on his new deal, Aaronson told the club’s official website: “It's a dream come true being at this club and being a part of this project. It's so ambitious. It's a beautiful club and I love being here. There was no doubt in my mind. I think it was easy for me to make this decision, and I am so excited about what the future has in store."
Those words mirror his trajectory under Farke. After a loan spell at Union Berlin in 2023-24, Aaronson returned to West Yorkshire sharper and more resilient, and he has since become one of the manager’s most trusted outlets between the lines.
Numbers that back up the faith
Aaronson has already built a substantial Leeds resume: 129 appearances, 14 goals and 10 assists for the club, excluding that year in the Bundesliga.
Last season he featured 42 times across all competitions, scoring four and setting up five. The creative burden on him was clear. Only Anton Stach fashioned more chances than Aaronson’s 37 in Farke’s squad, with the German midfielder creating 66.
Those figures help explain why Leeds moved quickly. Tie down the legs and brain of the press, then build around it.
A busy summer at Elland Road
Aaronson’s extension continues what is turning into a quietly efficient window for the Whites.
Harry Wilson has arrived to add left-footed threat and delivery, Nico Elvedi brings experience at the back, Tarik Muharemovic offers depth and potential, and James Trafford has come in to strengthen the goalkeeping department. With Rodon and Bogle also secured, Leeds are stitching together a group that looks built for the medium term, not just another survival scramble.
The club’s stance is clear: keep the spine, upgrade the edges, and give Farke continuity.
Forest away: hoodoo versus pedigree
Attention now turns to Saturday and the start of the 2026-27 Premier League campaign, as Leeds travel to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest.
History does them no favours there. Leeds have failed to win on any of their last 14 top-flight visits to the ground, a barren run that has turned the trip into one of their more awkward fixtures on the calendar.
Their opening-day record tells a different story. The Whites have lost just two of their last 18 Premier League season openers, a streak that hints at a team that tends to arrive prepared and aggressive on day one.
Aaronson will walk out in Nottingham not as a player with an uncertain future, but as a central piece of Farke’s project, locked in and looking ahead. If Leeds are serious about climbing from stability to something more ambitious, this is exactly the kind of commitment they have to make – and the kind of performance he now has to deliver.
