Benjamin Sesko Focuses on Positives After Late Draw Against Everton

Benjamin Sesko expressed his disappointment after Manchester United conceded a stoppage-time equaliser in their 2-2 draw with Everton. The Slovenian forward had just scored his first goal of the season, giving United hope for victory at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Striker Returns to Scoring Ways

Coming off the bench in the second half, Sesko connected with a precise cross from Luke Shaw, sending a powerful header past goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in the 88th minute. That goal put the Red Devils ahead 2-1, but the lead was lost when Ainsley Maitland-Niles fired an impressive strike in the 96th minute, securing a dramatic draw for Everton.

Late Goal Leaves Forward Frustrated

Despite making a strong comeback with a crucial goal, Sesko shared his frustration about losing all three points so late in the match. In a MUTV interview, he said:

"We're very disappointed because we were so close yet so far. To concede like that at the last minute is painful for everyone, especially since everyone gave their all to try and win. When a single shot decides the game, it hurts a lot."

Signs of Recovery and Optimism

The goal marks a positive moment for the 23-year-old, who missed much of pre-season due to fitness problems. Sesko aimed to focus on the positives from the game and the team’s effort:

"Scoring for a club like this feels great. Providing goals and points for the team is my job. It's good to be back playing and experiencing matches again. Of course, I wish we had won today, but that's out of our hands. It's important to take positives even when the result isn't ideal, look at the game constructively, and focus on improving for the next match."

Looking Ahead to Europe

After appearances from the bench against Hull City, Ipswich Town, and Everton, Sesko is aiming for a full start as he gains match fitness. Michael Carrick's squad must move past the disappointment quickly as they prepare for European action.

Manchester United will host Azerbaijani champions Sabah FK at Old Trafford on Thursday to begin their Champions League campaign.
