Atletico Madrid's Stance on Julian Alvarez Amid Transfer Speculation
Diego Simeone has drawn a hard line. Atletico Madrid’s manager has confirmed that Julian Alvarez will start LaLiga on the bench on Wednesday, as the forward’s future hangs over the club like a storm cloud.
Alvarez wants Barcelona. That is the move he is pushing for this summer, and reports in Spain point firmly towards the Camp Nou as his most likely destination, even with Arsenal circling and ready if the door opens. Atletico, though, are digging in.
Club CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin has gone public with the stance: they would not even accept €200m for the former Manchester City striker. A statement, more than a valuation. Atletico are trying to show strength while their star forward angles for the exit.
City’s midfield shake-up: Fernandez price soars
Manchester City, meanwhile, are walking into a far more expensive negotiation of their own.
They remain interested in Enzo Fernandez, but missing Chelsea’s Friday deadline for offers has come at a cost. The London club had been demanding £120m last week. That figure is now set to rise, with City facing a steeper fee if they want to prise the midfielder away.
At the same time, City are preparing a bold move in the opposite direction of the market cycle: youth at a premium price. They are set to sign 18-year-old midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi for £85m, a huge outlay on a teenager, after selling Ballon d’Or winner Rodri to Barcelona in a deal worth up to £65m. One established anchor gone, another potential long-term solution arriving — but at a far higher cost.
United shut the door on Bruno bid
In Manchester’s red half, the message is simpler: hands off.
Manchester United are ready to reject what has been described as an audacious approach from Galatasaray for captain Bruno Fernandes. The Turkish giants are chasing a marquee name this summer and had constructed a financial package that would have doubled the 31-year-old’s salary.
United’s response is blunt. Fernandes is not for sale. Galatasaray may be willing to spend, but United are not entertaining the idea of losing their captain.
Liverpool cool on Mbaye but keep Barcola in sight
On Merseyside, Liverpool’s attacking plans have taken a twist.
They had reportedly agreed terms with Paris Saint-Germain forward Ibrahim Mbaye, but new rumours suggest they are now moving away from the 18-year-old. Their attention, though, still lingers in the same dressing room.
Interest in his PSG teammate Bradley Barcola remains alive. Both Mbaye and France international Barcola were left out of PSG’s squad for the French Super Cup on Sunday, a decision that only fuels speculation around their futures.
The European champions were set to demand £145m for Barcola, who is also on Arsenal’s radar. Liverpool are not rushing. They are prepared to play the long game, waiting for the price to bend rather than breaking their own structure.
The window is still open, tempers are rising, and valuations are stretching. The question now is who blinks first: the clubs holding the cards, or the stars desperate to move.
