Arsenal's Pursuit of Kenan Yildiz Stopped by Juventus

Arsenal can circle his name on every shortlist they like. Juventus are not blinking.

Kenan Yildiz, the 21-year-old forward who has become the new jewel of the Allianz Stadium, is going nowhere if the Italian club get their way. Arsenal’s interest has been an open secret for months, with talk in England of a huge bid being readied. The response from Turin could not be more direct.

“He’s staying,” is the message – and Luciano Spalletti is happy to say it out loud.

Spalletti shuts the door

On the eve of Juve’s league opener away to Frosinone, the Bianconeri coach faced the inevitable questions. Arsenal’s pursuit. The rumored nine-figure offers. The possibility of losing his most exciting young attacker.

He brushed it all aside.

“I am perfectly relaxed, because dealing with Yildiz is easy for me,” Spalletti told reporters with a smile. “They can offer whatever they like, I want Yildiz here and will always put him on the field. He's a perfect lad to talk to, he's mature, and knows he doesn't need to rush anything.”

No caveats. No “for the right price.” Just a flat refusal to entertain the idea.

The stance is backed by evidence on the pitch. Yildiz was central to Juventus’ campaign last season, playing 47 times in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and adding 10 assists. For a player still learning his trade at the top level, those are serious numbers.

From Bayern prospect to Turin phenomenon

Yildiz’s rise has been rapid. Juventus picked him up from Bayern Munich’s academy in 2022, initially slotting him into their youth setup. That didn’t last long.

His talent was too obvious, his impact too immediate. He forced his way into the senior squad and became a key part of the team that lifted the 2023-24 Coppa Italia, accelerating from promising youngster to first-team reference point in barely two seasons.

Spalletti is convinced this is only the beginning.

“His future is already important staying at Juventus, not because there are other clubs who want to spend €100m for him,” the coach said. “We are all convinced that we can show the total potential of Kenan, and he is a potential phenomenon of football. The fans are convinced too.”

That word – phenomenon – is not used lightly in Italy. Spalletti knows what he has.

A bond with Juventus that money can’t easily break

Yildiz has not just won over Juventus supporters with goals and assists. He has leaned into the club’s history, its symbols, its legends.

He has repeatedly spoken of his admiration for Alessandro Del Piero, the icon of an earlier era in black and white. He has even copied Del Piero’s famous tongue-out celebration, a small but telling nod to the past that has gone down well in the Curva Sud.

That emotional connection matters. It makes the idea of a move to London feel distant, at least for now, as Yildiz looks to build his own story in the same stadium where his idol became a legend.

Juventus build around their new star

Behind the scenes, Juventus have already moved to protect their asset. A lucrative five-year contract signed earlier this year gives the club firm control over Yildiz’s future and any negotiations around it.

They see him as the cornerstone of their attack for years to come, a player to build around as they try to climb back towards the summit of Italian and European football.

That long-term planning is crucial after a bruising domestic campaign. Juventus finished sixth last season and must settle for UEFA Europa League football this time around. Stability, and a clear project, are non-negotiable. Letting their brightest young forward leave now would tear a hole in that plan.

Arsenal’s hunt for firepower hits resistance

Arsenal’s interest, though, is easy to understand. Mikel Arteta’s side have been aggressive in this transfer window, strengthening key areas with the arrivals of Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa, Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United, and Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge.

The forward line remains a live issue. Leandro Trossard has departed, and questions linger over Gabriel Martinelli’s long-term future at the Emirates. Yildiz, with his versatility, creativity, and age profile, fits perfectly into Arsenal’s model.

They have started their Premier League title defence in style, sweeping aside Coventry City 3-0 on Friday to open the new campaign with authority. Yet as they look for one more attacking spark, the door marked “Yildiz” appears bolted from the inside.

Juventus have drawn their line. If Arsenal want a new star for the Emirates, they may have to look somewhere else.
