Arsenal’s pursuit of Bruno Guimaraes has moved to the brink of completion, with the London club and Newcastle United reaching an agreement in principle over a fee for the Brazil international after weeks of hard bargaining.

Newcastle’s position and a looming goodbye
Behind the scenes, the foundations for a possible exit were laid some time ago. ESPN Brasil previously reported that Newcastle and Guimaraes had an “amicable agreement” in place: if the club failed to qualify for the Champions League, he would be allowed to leave.
That failure has now collided with Arsenal’s ambition.
