Al-Qadisiyah Prepares for AFC Champions League with New Stadium

Al-Qadisiyah supporters woke to a jolt of optimism on Wednesday, and it came from two directions at once.

First, the headline name: Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, signed from Manchester City, a statement arrival for a club about to step onto the continental stage. Then, almost in the same breath, came news that the venue set to host this new era is all but ready.

Aramco Stadium nears the finish line

Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiyah reported that Aramco Stadium, Al-Qadisiyah’s soon-to-be home, has entered the final stretch of preparations. The pitch has already been transported and installed, using the latest specialised technology associated with top-tier international arenas, leaving it ready for competitive action.

It will be a sizeable stage. Around 47,000 spectators will be able to pack into the stands across all categories, with the stadium built around advanced hospitality areas and digital services designed to smooth entry, movement and matchday experience.

Access has been built with volume in mind. Fifteen internal gates feed into the ground, supported by smart crowd-management systems and tech-driven solutions aimed at organising fan flow and cutting down congestion before kick-off and after the final whistle.

European ideas in a Gulf cauldron

Al-Riyadiyah also highlighted a series of features borrowed from leading European stadiums. The playing surface is equipped with a rainwater drainage system that accelerates runoff and limits disruption during heavy downpours, keeping the pitch playable and the tempo high.

Ventilation has been treated as a central pillar rather than an afterthought. The stadium links to an air-conditioning system with a cooling capacity of 22,500 tonnes, designed to blanket every corner of the bowl and keep conditions manageable when the heat bites.

Engineers didn’t leave airflow to chance. During the design phase, they used advanced simulation tools to fine-tune how air moves through the structure, chasing maximum comfort and efficiency even when the climate outside turns hostile.

Built for a new chapter

All of this feeds into a clear ambition. Al-Qadisiyah want the environment to match the scale of the challenge, with the club preparing to appear in the AFC Champions League Elite for the first time in its history.

A marquee signing in Reijnders. A near-complete, high-tech Aramco Stadium. The pieces are being put in place; now the question is how far this new-look Al-Qadisiyah can run on Asia’s biggest stage.
